The Rock and Stone Cold Saga comes to an end
The Rock and Stone Cold Saga has been one of the greatest rivalries ever. The two legendary wrestlers were the pillars of the Attitude era in WWE. The Rock and Stone Cold wrestled each other for the last time in 2003 at WrestleMania XIX. This was one of the best matches of the night, second only to the Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar match for the WWE Championship.
In the match, the Rock kept taunting Stone Cold throughout. The Rattlesnake was able to hit the iconic Stunner. The match ended with the Rock hitting Stone Cold for a Rock Bottom and pinning him to win the match. After the match ended, the Rock and Stone Cold embraced each other as sign of mutual respect.
Stone Cold’s thinks his last match could have been better
Stone Cold is perhaps the biggest household name in the WWE. In an interview with WWE The Bump, he talked about how he knew that WrestleMania XIX would be his last match. He added that the a few others including the Rock knew about it.
“Nobody really knew this was going to be my last match; the Rock knew, and a couple of guys in the management knew. I was going to ride off into the sunset. I defeated the Rock two times prior at WrestleMania and at WrestleMania 17, we rocked the house… I thought the match was good, but it could have been better.”
What happened after Stone Cold’s last match?
Stone Cold appeared on WWE television for sporadic appearances as a non-wrestling outfit. He came back to Monday Night Raw to act as the co-GM along with Eric Bischoff. The Injury Stone Cold had suffered from with his match against Owen Hart in 1997 was legitimate and prevented him from ever getting in the ring.
