Saying that both of these Canadian pro wrestlers are friends would probably be an understatement, as they’re probably more like brothers. The friendship between Cage and Copeland goes back to their childhood, as they have been friends since their school days.
Both the veterans have known each other since sixth grade and also had a similar kind of career journeys in the pro wrestling world. Now, after being in the industry for nearly three decades, the duo is again on the same promotion. Thus, it remains to be seen how they compliment each other whenever they get the opportunity to do so in All Elite Wrestling.
Edge and Christian Cage share a long history together
Being from the same grade isn’t the only thing that The Rated R Superstar and Christian share. The two legends also share a long history in the pro wrestling industry, as they’ve been associated with each other in different ways throughout their careers.
Their journey as companions began in 1998, when both the Canadian stars started working as a team. In their run as a tag team in WWE, the two went on to achieve heights of success and soon won tag team gold. Both of them went on to have some epic matches as a team, especially against The Hardy Boyz.
With their tactics and in-ring skills, the two went on to become a prominent duo in the tag team division. But in 2001, their team started to have friction, and it eventually ended with Christian’s heel turn.
Following this betrayal, Edge and Cage were involved in a highly personal feud for months. After a few years, Christian left WWE in 2005, and that’s why the two remain apart from each other’s careers. Additionally, the Rated R Superstar also retired from in-ring action in April 2011.
After Edge’s return in 2020, Christian and Adam shared the ring again in the 2021 Royal Rumble. This match was extra special, as it was eventually won by Copeland. But the two never again competed against each other or even as tag team partners.
After this moment, Cage left WWE and joined the Jacksonville-based promotion. Following in his friend’s steps, Copeland also joined Tony Khan’s company in October 2023. With them now being on the same brand, it remains to be seen when they’ll again cross paths in AEW.
