Former Universal Champion Goldberg has had an illustrious career. But during that time he has also made a few enemies. One of the stars on the list was a fellow WWE Hall of Famer.
The veteran in question is Bret Hart. In December 1999, the Canadian legend and Goldberg faced each other at Starrcade for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in a No Disqualification Match. The match was a brief one and lasted for over a few minutes. In the end, Hart was the one who walked out victoriously. However, the victory came with a price of its own.
During the match, Goldberg nailed a superkick to Hart’s head, which resulted in Hart suffering a concussion. This also turned out to be a fatal blow to Hart’s career. Since then, he has been quite up-front about the incident and especially his opponent.
Hart mentioned that Goldberg cost him 16 million dollars in literally two seconds and ended his glamorous career. He went on to say that when he gets to learn that his rival has been making several million dollars for short-lengthed matches, he expects that the WWE Hall of Famer would send a portion for him.

Bret Hart Commented “Goldberg, he literally, honestly cost me 16 million dollars in like two seconds and ended my career, when I hear about Bill Goldberg going to Saudi Arabia, making three million dollars for a 10-minute match in Saudi Arabia. You know you think he would have called me up and said, here I’m gonna send you something for it.”
Goldberg is currently a free agent
WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg is currently a free agent as his contract with WWE expired towards the end of last year and no new deal has been made between him and the company, as of now.
The Hall of Famer previously returned to WWE in 2016, where he wrestled his first match against The Beast Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. However, Goldberg achieved a huge victory in the match as he defeated The Beast in a short match that lasted for nearly two minutes.
Moving ahead his last match took place at the 2022 Elimination Chamber, where he faced Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship and lost. Following that, his contract with the company expired at the end of the year.

After becoming a free agent, he spoke to Sports Illustrated and stated that he did his job perfectly and the company owes him a retirement match. However, he went on to say that he won’t be sitting by the phone and waiting for them to call him, instead, he will execute his own ideas.
It is to be seen if Goldberg will join WWE’s rival promotion AEW down the line. What do you think about Bret Hart’s comments on the veteran? Do you think the now free agent will join AEW soon? Share with us.
