Logan Paul made a sensational Royal Rumble debut at the Alamodome on Saturday. The Maverick entered the match at the coveted #29 spot, becoming the second to last man to enter the Royal Rumble. And like most Royal Rumble returns, his impact on the match was immediate and massive.
The Maverick was immediately targeted by Braun Strowman and some others. Later, after he recovered, Logan and Ricochet had one of the best spots in the match. Both of them dove over the top rope at the same time leading to a mid-air collision between Paul and the former NJPW and ROH star. This spot led to one of the biggest pops of the PPV.

The controversial Logan Paul wasn’t the only high-profile return at the 2023 Royal Rumble. The eventual winner, and the wrestler who eliminated Paul, Cody Rhodes also made his WWE comeback at the pay-per-view after suffering a gruesome pectoral injury back in June.
WWE Hall of Famer and 5-time WCW champion Booker T also surprised his hometown fans at the Alamodome with his return at the Royal Rumble. The Rated R Superstar, Edge, also made his return, furthering his feud with Finn Balor and Judgement Day.
After his return, Logan revealed that he loved the polarising reaction he received at the Alamodome. He labeled the atmosphere of a WWE PPV as “insane” and called the WWE universe the best fans in the world. Despite his recent controversies, the WWE Universe seemed happy to see Logan Paul return.
Why was Logan Paul out of action?
The Maverick has been out of action for the WWE since November of 2022. He last fought WWE’s undisputed world champion, the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel. During his barnburner with Reigns in Saudi Arabia for the world titles, Logan suffered a serious injury.
It was reported initially that the founder of PRIME had torn his ACL, MCL, and meniscus. However, it was later clarified that Paul had only sprained his meniscus and MCL. In spite of these setbacks and hurdles, Paul and Reigns’ match received widespread acclaim and praise from fans and critics alike. Many critics commended Paul for amassing such impressive wrestling skills in a very short period of time.
The match against Reigns was rated 4.5/5 stars by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. And every pro-wrestling fan knows how stingy Meltzer can be with his star ratings, especially when it comes to WWE matches.
And despite sharing the ring with one of the best wrestlers in the world, getting such a rating in only his third PPV match is no mean feat. The Maverick seems to have a bright future in the business of pro wrestling.
