Early November last year, with Survivor Series looming in, a report began to hype the WWE universe. According to Andrew Zarian, WWE was planning to get Rey Mysterio vs Dominik Mysterio. Despite, Rey Mysterio making it clear that he is not interested in fighting his son, WWE still wants the feud to take place. 4 months since then, it looks like WWE have actually listened to Rey’s request and are dropping the storyline completely. WWE has instead decided to rekindle a buried storyline.
“I am your Papi!”
WWE is known for producing some amazing storylines and iconic feuds. But occasionally, the story may not be the best. One such storyline was during the ‘Ruthless Aggression‘ era. Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero were tag team partners. Eddie decided to turn on Rey but he did not just turn on him, the Latino Heat claimed that Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik was actually Eddie’s son. According to the story, Dominik was born to Eddie and his mistress and since Rey and his wife were trying to get pregnant, Eddie decided to let Rey adopt his son. Eddie wanted to take custody of his son again.
There were several segments with Eddie being the villain while Rey and his family were the sad good guys. During the promo segments, Eddie looked at Dominik eye-to-eye and said “I’m your Papi“. Dominik was scared to death and Rey was trying his best to protect his son.
At SummerSlam 2005, Eddie and Rey competed in a ladder match and the winner would get custody of Dominik. Rey Mysterio won the match thanks to some help from Eddie’s wife, Vicky Guerrero. The feud ended with Rey Mysterio gaining custody of his son.
This was one of the worst storylines possible. It is understandable that WWE wanted to do something dramatic, but this was beyond ridiculous. Keep in mind that Dominik was only 8 years old during this storyline and for WWE to get this kid involved in this horrendous plot was just insensitive. It was just one of the weird storylines that people wish was wiped from their memory.
The storyline still haunts Rey and Dominik Mysterio
As mentioned earlier, WWE has dropped the Rey Mysterio vs Dominik Mysterio storyline. Instead, The Miz is seemingly in a feud with the Mysterios. Last night on Raw, Miz hosted another segment of ‘Miz TV‘ and the Mysterios were the special guests. As the conversation was getting heated, Miz asked Dominik if he was sure Eddie isn’t his son. Rey did not take that insult lightly. Miz went on to face Dominik in a match where Dominik won via a roll-up.
Clearly, this feud is not over as Miz took to Twitter to take one more shot at the Mysterios.

So how is WWE going to move ahead with this feud? It is both scary and intriguing. Only time will tell.
