Last night at the Royal Rumble, Bobby Lashley challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The match started with both men showing off their brute strength and in-ring abilities. Towards the end, The Beast took control of the match. The All-Mighty had Lesnar under The Hurt Lock and The Conqueror appeared to be fading.

However, Brock would turn the tables when he escaped from the submission hold by pushing Lashley into the turnbuckle. Additionally, behind Lashley, the referee got caught in the melee and appeared to have injured himself. Lesnar then hoisted Lashley up for an F5. While executing the move Bobby’s feet knocked out the referee.

The match came to a turning point when Roman Reigns speared Brock and hit him with the WWE World Title in the face to effectively knocking him out. Lesnar’s friend and advocate Paul Heyman handed Reigns the title and post The Tribal Chief’s assault walked off with him, effectively turning on Brock. Lashley covered a lifeless Beast and became the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Bobby Lashley reacts to his championship win backstage
Post his match, Bobby Lashley along with his manager MVP spoke to Ariel Helwani. The new WWE World Heavyweight Champion starts by saying, “It is one of the biggest moments in my career. Beating Brock is a big step in my career.” Lashley adds, “I wanted to see what he had. We know Brock’s going to hit a lot of German Suplexes, F5s and I wanted to see if I can take it and I did. And then I beat him in the end. So of course, this is a beautiful victory.”

MVP towards the end pitches an idea to Bobby, “What if we made this a trilogy? We could do it in the cage and we could do it on the mat. Whatever Brock Lesnar wants to do. Bobby Lashley can do it better.”
