Last week on SmackDown, Big E suffered a serious injury to his neck. Big E teamed with his New Day Brethren Kofi Kingston to take on Sheamus and Ridge Holland on the show. On the outside, Ridge Holland hit a belly to belly suplex on Big E towards the end of the match. Big E landed awkwardly on his head and was motionless right after that nasty bump. The WE medical staff rushed to check on Big E and he was taken to the hospital. Big E updated the fans that his neck was indeed broken. Neck injuries, more often than not are career-ending injuries. So is Big E’s in-ring career over?
Big E: Injury update
The former WWE Champion took it to Twitter to thank his fans for showing him love and support. He also gave us a small update instantly after being hospitalised. The former WWE Champion said that he can finally move his fingers and toes but sadly his neck is injured.

After another review by the doctors, Big E posted another update. That had some good news in the fact that Big E has no damage to the spinal cord and does not need any surgery. But, the C1 and C6 cervical vertebrates are fractured.

With this being said, we do not have a clear update on when the Muscle of New Day will return to action.
Former WWE Physician Dr. David Cho mentioned that this type of injury is usually dangerous and Big E dodged a bullet.
“The C1 fracture is most dangerous as the top cervical vertebrae is a ring and is commonly associated with immediate death or complete paralysis. Thankfully the fracture was not displaced and he will not need surgery. However, this type of fracture often heals incompletely and it may mean the end of his wrestling career.
“Previously, I had worked regularly with WWE as a consulting physician for events and performing surgery. I can assure you the stunts that are executed are real and come with risk, even though some consider the sport to be “fake.” – Former WWE Physician Dr. David Cho on Big E
A lot of fans and members from the pro-wrestling community have shown their love and support towards the former WWE Champion.
Love you, Big E. You supported me in the hospital, so I’m returning the blessing.

We at Sports Manor also wish the Big man a speedy recovery and we wish to see him in the ring wrestling and entertaining the masses very soon. He is still due a one-on-one rematch for the WWE Title and I am sure he will return soon to get that opportunity.
Only a handful of wrestlers have returned to in-ring action after suffering neck injuries. They are Stone Cold Steve Austin, Edge, Daniel Bryan, Tommaso Ciampa and Sting. Big E will join the list soon.
