The Departure of Cesaro has left the wrestling word shook. The Swiss Superman is a universally-beloved figure in every promotion he’s been in, and his departure from WWE is sad; but not surprising. Cesaro spent 11 years with the company, and never won the World Championship. Hell, his first proper World Title Programme came last year, when he took on Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania Backlash.
But that doesn’t mean people don’t remember him; and the Cesaro Movement on Twitter has scrounged up a viral clip CM Punk praising their hero all the way back in 2013.
Both Superstars have had similar trajectories in WWE
The Second City Saint is no stranger to the massive brass ring that exists in WWE. His rise of the top was built upon the foundation of not being recognized for his world-class talent, but where Punk got the chance to hold the Big One on at least 6 separate occasions, Cesaro hasn’t held it even once. Despite being the most-liked member of the WWE locker room, Big Tony has had minimal representation of his WSM-esque strength.
Chicago’s Favorite Son recognized this disparity during his tenure with the company and made sure to promote Cesaro every chance he got. In this clip, filmed at the media scrum for WrestleMania 29, you can see Punk rocking a Cesaro t-shirt and tell Mark Henry exactly how much The Swiss Cyborg meant to him.
BRUH CM Punk said this back in 2013 about Cesaro and I can’t believe 9 years later nothing changed in the E!

With his move to All Elite Wrestling, CM Punk has re-discovered his passion for pro-wrestling and has been a highlight of the promotion since debuting. While there has been no official interest from AEW in signing Cesaro, he already has the perfect feud lined up on the off-chance he does become All Elite.
Eddie Kingston has been trashing Cesaro on Twitter recently
The Mad King does not mince his words with anybody; whether it’s Moxley, Chris Jericho or CM Punk. Kingston has stated previously that his angle with Punk was “not a work”; and it looks like he has beef with the Swiss Superman, too.
In an interview with News 12, he said that he just “doesn’t like Cesaro” and called him WWE’s “big Swiss Idiot”. After news of Cesaro’s departure broke, Kingston tweeted this:
All I am going to say is, he doesn’t have the balls to come to AEW.

The pair’s history is well-documented, and one thing is guaranteed whenever Eddie Kingston sets his sights on someone; you’re going to get the show of a lifetime. Should Cesaro join up with Punk and other former WWE superstars who now populate AEW’s locker room, he will find himself lacing his boots up almost immediately. Whether that happens, remains to be seen.
