- During the press conference, Dwayne Johnson slapped Cody Rhodes.
Dwayne Johnson has just slapped Cody Rhodes right in the face, and CM Punk is not having it! Inside the T-Mobile Arena, WWE just had its WrestleMania 40 kickoff press conference. While it is very evident that the company is not backing down from its initially planned match between Roman Reigns and The Rock, fans now have a wrinkle in the mix.
In the big press conference, The Rock did not get the reaction he anticipated and seemed quite flustered on the stage. Time and time again, the 51-year-old faced “We Want Cody” chants from the fans. One could see him slowly reverting back to his ‘Hollywood Rock’ stage. He referred to the Cody fans as the “Cody crybabies.” The Hollywood actor showed a picture of his family bloodline and asked the fans to “respect it.”
At that point, Cody Rhodes came out without any entrance music and labeled it all “bullsh*t.” The former AEW Vice President, who teased that he had made up his mind on his WrestleMania opponent ahead of the press conference, ultimately named Reigns as his choice. However, after Roman insulted his father, Dusty Rhodes, “The American Nightmare” did not hold back and revealed that Reigns’ grandfather would have been “ashamed” of him.

At this point, The Rock stepped in and slapped Cody Rhodes. While it is unknown whether the slap was scripted or not, Dwayne Johnson was visibly upset at Cody’s words and seemed to have dropped some f-words during the scuffle on the stage. At one point, The Rock threatened, “I’ll slap the p*ss out of you again.”
CM Punk reacts to Dwayne Johnson slap Cody Rhodes
While CM Punk is not going to be performing in this year’s WrestleMania due to a tricep injury, he is certainly a part of the event in some form. Hence, Punk was present during the broadcast of the press conference and gave his thoughts on what happened on the stage.
After The Rock slapped Cody Rhodes, Punk added, “I want to see Cody punch Rock Right in the face.” Not only that, the 46-year-old also reminded the fans that the $800 million rich is currently a part of the TKO board as well. The Chicago native also referenced his AEW brawl and added that he would have put his hands on the ‘Fast and Furious’ actor if The Rock slapped him.
