Dolph Ziggler has been a workhorse for WWE since he made his debut back in 2009. The former Spirit Squad member is one of the best sellers on the entire roster. He always makes his opponent look good, and with that mission, Ziggler has taken his talents to NXT 2.0.
The Showoff had been languishing in the tag team division with Robert Roode. However, things changed when NXT Champion Bron Breakker welcomed Dolph to face him for his title after he beats Santos Escobar on NXT Vengeance Day. In an exclusive interview backstage after last Monday’s RAW, Ziggler responded, “I didn’t, but I would assume that everyone in the locker room, including my tag partner Bob, let me know. I appreciate it. People want to make a name for themselves, especially young up-and-comers, you wanna get your name out there, you wanna go above and beyond. NXT is a big deal.”
“Being NXT Champion is a really big deal, but also, you sometimes want to be an even bigger deal, be a man. Now, I appreciate the effort, but don’t try to make a name for yourself with me because after a while it’s funny, but then you kind of want to, I don’t know, how do I say this? Slap the hell out of him sometimes. So, if you make it personal towards me, I take it personally. But we can all laugh, right? I heard NXT is on Syfy tomorrow. Big night for NXT! Big night for the champ! I’m off tomorrow. Hell, who knows? Anybody could show up, right? Maybe NXT on Syfy gets even bigger. Who’s to say?”
Dolph Ziggler appears on NXT 2.0
Well as Ziggler said ‘anybody could show up,’ and that’s what he did. Dolph made his way to NXT 2.0 on Tuesday night, looking dapper in an all-black suit and a tie. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion intervened during the NXT Championship Summit between Breakker and Escobar. DZ then launched a scathing attack on the current NXT Champion. He started by saying, “You wanted to know if I worked Tuesdays. Apparently, I do.”

The Showoff then proceeds to ask Breakker, “Who the hell are you?” and continues “If I list my accolades it could take up this entire segment or even the entire show. However, there’s one thing I still don’t have even after all these years, and that is the NXT Championship.” DZ very clearly announced his intentions to become the new NXT Champion.
Tommaso Ciampa then showed up to interrupt Ziggler’s promo and a huge brawl broke out to end the show. Dolph looked like an absolute star during the whole segment. The audience kept chanting ‘Steal the show’ and ‘Triple threat’ as they were excited by The Showoff’s appearance.
WWE had been teasing the match between Breakker and Ziggler for quite some time now and it seems like they have finally pulled the trigger. It’s refreshing to see a veteran like Dolph going over to NXT and putting over the newer and younger stars. His promo won over the WWE Universe. It’s no wonder why some describe him as the modern-day Shawn Michaels. Wherever this story goes next, one thing is for sure, Bron Breakker will come out looking like a million dollars after working with Dolph Ziggler.
