Former WWE Champion John Cena has always been known for his incredible physique. Whether it be during his OVW days or during the final leg of his full-time WWE career, Cena has always been the one to showcase a toned body. During his 20-plus year career in the ring, Cena has been able to more or less stay fit and has even showcased an inclination towards bettering his moves.
Now that The Cenation Leader has forayed into Hollywood, the requirements for his body are different. While acting, the 16-time world champion may need to alter her shape as per the requirements of his role. Over the years, this transformation has been noticeable in John Cena. Moving away from the muscular Hulk he was back in the day, Cena has lost weight.
Speaking about this transformation during a previous interview with GQ, Cena, who is now 46, said he has taken on yoga to maintain his physique. He noted that the days of his bodybuilding and weightlifting are over, and now he is more focused on toning down. Before his 2022 film Snafu, alongside Jackie Chan, Cena revealed that he lost 20 pounds, a move that gave him mild depression.
“They could care less about how strong I was. They just wanted me to kick over my head, which was impossible,” Cena said. “I went over there to train with him for about three months, and they stretched me like taffy. I immediately lost 20 pounds, which was very difficult for me. I even fell into a weird depression because it was like, ‘I’m losing everything that I worked on for 30 years!'”
John Cena started working out in a full-fledged manner when he was 12 years old. The WWE legend admits that after more than 30 years of working out, his approach to weights has changed. During his wrestling days, his aim was to be the strongest version of himself. But now, Cena admits, he wants to lift weights until he is 80.
John Cena admitted that his body can’t do wrestling anymore
It has been a few years since John Cena has been a full-time wrestler. While he has been there sporadically to partake in matches, Cena has been more focused on his wrestling career. As a result, the former world champion has also passed the torch to Roman Reigns, who is now the face of WWE.
During a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, Cena admitted that his time inside the squared circle is almost up. He stated that while he wishes to be in WWE every day, his body can’t take it anymore. Cena concluded that he does not want to give fans a bad product.
“I tried to do what I could, and when I did it, it wasn’t the miracle. That’s a testament to your work. But man, I wish I was still there every day. My body can’t do it anymore, and I don’t want to give the consumer a bad product,” Cena said.
It seems more likely that John Cena, like his on-screen rival Randy Orton, is also on the cusp of hanging up his boots. The Cenation Leader has seemingly left an indelible mark in the world of wrestling, fans may soon have to cope with the fact that he will never return to the ring ever again.
