John Cena remained the face of WWE for more than a decade, but his career also had its lows, which he conquered with courage. The most difficult time during his stint with the Stamford-based promotion was when Cena had to stay away from in-ring action due to injuries.
The Cenation Leader suffered a number of injuries in his career, and recently a top WWE star suffered the same injury as the 16-time World Champion suffered over a decade ago. The performer is none other than Sami Zayn, as he recently caught an elbow injury that was suffered by The Cenation Leader back in 2013.
According to a tweet by popular AEW commentator Taz, Sami’s recent injury is not a big concern. He wrote, “It’s a bursa sac. It’s very common for wrestlers to get them on elbow“. Despite the claims that the injury is a common one, fans aren’t really sure what to expect, as a lot of top stars have already been out of in-ring competition owing to injuries.
The Underdog from the Underground’s injury initially emerged on the August 7 episode of WWE Raw, as his elbow looked really swollen after being attacked by JD McDonagh. Due to his injury, Zayn had to be taken out of his scheduled match, as he was set to compete in a 6-man tag team match later on the show.
John Cena recovered in a matter of weeks: How long will Sami Zayn be out of action?
John Cena underwent surgery to repair the damage he suffered due to his Torn Triceps injury in 2013. It was speculated by medical professionals that he would require about six months to heal. But the Cenation leader was able to recover in a matter of weeks and returned to in-ring competition within two months.
While last week’s Monday Night Raw was when Sami’s injury came into the limelight, it was confirmed during this week’s episode. It was revealed by none other than Michael Cole that the superstar is currently suffering from traumatic olecranon bursitis. Despite having an elbow injury, Zayn wrestled and defeated McDonagh in a singles match on the show.
While reports have revealed that Sami Zayn has suffered the same fate as the 16-time World Champion, the extent of his injury still remains a mystery. As the amount of damage suffered by The Underdog from the Underground hasn’t been confirmed, nothing can be said about how much time he will take to recover.
Taking an estimate from the recovery time of The Cenation Leader, it seems that Sami could even be out of in-ring action for months. However, till now, these are only speculations. Given the fact that the former Honorary Uce wrestled this week, it is safe to assume that the injury is not fatal.
Not only Zayn but his tag team partner Kevin Owens is also injured. But it doesn’t seem like Triple H’s company will strip them from the titles. It remains to be seen what exactly the future holds for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships.
