Born in Canada, Adam Copeland made a name for himself in the world of ‘Professional Wrestling‘. Copeland wrestled under the ring-name ‘Edge‘. Edge has always been a wrestler who loved to take risks and go ‘extreme‘. This earned him the nickname, ‘The Rated-R Superstar‘. Throughout his career, Edge has won several championships and reached the top of the mountain. Sadly, his passion for pro-wrestling cost him his health. He suffered multiple injuries during his career and a few were career-ending ones. He has always managed to overcome the odds and make a return to in-ring action.
Edge and his incredible WWE career
The Rated R superstar is an 11-Time World Heavyweight Champion in the WWE. He made his WWE debut in 1996. Initially, the Hall of Famer was wrestling without a contract. WWE was at the time WWF (World Wrestling Federation), and the president of WWF Canada, Carl De Marco was one of the reasons why Edge joined the company.
While Edge was wrestling in the independent circuit in Canada, Wrestling Legend and WWE Hall Of Famer, Bret Hart had sent videotapes of Edge’s in-ring performances to Carlos De Marco.WWF not only got him to work for them but they also settled his college debt of $40,000. In 1997, he signed his first-ever official contract with the company. Since then he has been loyal to the company and has not worked anywhere else. The Rated R Superstar has won the Money In The Bank briefcase twice and cashed them in successfully. He is also a 2-time Royal Rumble winner.
The Rated R Superstar and Christian were part of the few teams that popularised tag-team wrestling. They are the founders of the infamous Tables, Ladders and Chairs match type.
Edge’s body transformation
In 2012, Edge suffered a neck injury that forced him to retire from professional wrestling. 9-years later, the R Rated Superstar made a shocking return to the WWE at the 2021 Royal Rumble. When he made his return, he looked in his best shape ever.
Edge’s Family and Wife
Edge was born in Ontario, Canada. He was raised by his mother, Judy Copeland. To this day, the Rated R Superstar has not met his father. Judy raised him all by herself. She is one of the biggest inspirations for her son. Judy worked two jobs to support her family. Knowing what he wanted to do in his life, Judy worked even harder to provide the funds for his wrestling needs.
Edge has been married three times in his life. Although the first 2 marriages did not go according to plan, the third time was a charm and Edge has been happily married to Beth Pheonix, another WWE Hall of Famer. Edge and Beth married in 2016 and currently, they have two daughters. Edge and Beth are going to compete as a couple for the first time in their careers at the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View against Miz and Maryse.
During the 9 years that Edge was away from WWE, he pursued an acting career. The Rated R Superstar has acted in a few movies and also in some television series. One of his most notable roles is in the series ‘Vikings’. Adam ‘Edge’ Copland is a recurring character on the show from seasons 5 and 6. You can stream it on Netflix.
