Ever since Jimmy Uso made a surprising return to attack Jey during the Undisputed Universal Championship match at SummerSlam, everyone wanted to see a rivalry between the brothers. The seeds for the feud were sown on the August 11 episode of SmackDown when the fan-favorite Uso kicked his brother.
However, things took an unexpected turn after that, as Main Event Jey announced his WWE departure. Even though many believe that Jey has actually left the Triple H-led promotion, his walkout could just be a way of delaying the entire storyline around the Jey vs. Jimmy match.
These speculations were also confirmed by WrestlingWCC, as they reported that Jimmy Uso vs. Jey Uso won’t take place in the immediate future. However, the decision to delay a feud that’s currently probably the biggest in the promotion has invited massive backlash from fans.
Suggesting that the promotion didn’t plan this rivalry that well, a pro wrestling lover said, “They pulled the trigger to early“. “They overbooked the bloodline so strong that they’ve messed up,” a member of the WWE Universe claimed. Questioning the recent booking decisions, a user on ‘X’ wrote, “Then what in the actual hell was the point of this storyline???!!” (Via- X)
Looking at the fan reactions, it’s obvious that the WWE Universe is disappointed over the delay in the Jey vs. Jimmy rivalry. But the promotion may have planned something spectacular, which may even exceed the fans’ expectations. It remains to be seen what direction this entire storyline takes in the future.
Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso may take place at WrestleMania 40
While reports have revealed that the encounter between Jey and Jimmy is being delayed by the Stamford-based promotion, it seems that the match could be set for the Biggest Event of 2024. WWE can delay this iconic match until WrestleMania 40.
This possibility was initially reported in early August when it was revealed that a member of the creative team believes that the Jey vs. Jimmy match should culminate at WrestleMania 40 next year. At that time, other members of the creative group thought it would be too much of a stretch. But, as things have been lately, it seems that they might have agreed to this long delay.
It must be noted that WrestleMania 40 is scheduled to be held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, on April 6 and 7, 2024. If WWE wants to postpone this match up to next year’s WrestleMania, the encounter could easily be the main event of Day 1. It’ll be interesting to see how the rivalry between The Usos is handled in the upcoming months.
