As the saying goes, every friendship needs one argument to see how stable it really is, which probably holds true in the relationship between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel. Being two of the most celebrated public figures, they’ve had an estranged bond at times. Although Johnson and Diesel have publicly boasted about burying the hatchet between themselves, they’re not great pals in actuality. Cracks started to develop during the sequel to Furious 7, also known as The Fate of the Furious.
Before the release, the Black Adam star went on an unhinged rant on social media in a now-deleted post. While not naming anyone, he called those unmapped beings “Chicken S***” and “Candy a**es”. Shortly after the 51-year-old former wrestler removed it, a TMZ report claimed that Johnson was referring to no one but his co-star, Vin Diesel. Neither one of them had opened up in an official capacity until then. However, in 2016, during an interview with The People, one of their female co-workers, Michelle Rodriguez, finally spilled the beans.

Confirming the alleged heat between her male co-actors, the Girlfight actress urged people to let the involved Hollywood icons settle their own differences. Calling them bros, the 45-year-old actress appealed to her fanbase to figure out how things work between men. According to her, friends too arrive at a point where they’ve got to keep their differences aside to achieve something great.
“Any human being who knows what men are like knows to stay out [of those] situations and let them figure it out. “They’re ‘bros’, man. They’re friends, and ultimately even friends reach a point where they have to set aside their differences to make a movie for multi-cultural people around the world, and that is the bigger scheme of things.” she said.
Why do Dwayne Johnson & Vin Diesel hate each other?
As mentioned above, the beef between Johnson and Diesel probably ignited on the sets of Fast 8. This got followed by a couple of Instagram posts from the Brahma Bull, seemingly calling out his male co-actors. Despite hiding the actual identities of his targets, reports clarified that the Jumanji star had Vin Diesel on his radar. Even after wrapping up the filming for The Fate of the Furious, Dwayne shared a note of acknowledgement for the entire crew team, including his co-stars, only leaving Diesel out.
The Great One then abandoned the Fast and Furious franchise and decided not to appear in its next part. He then cited his ridiculously busy outings for Hobbs and Shaw as the reason behind his absence on the sets containing Vin Diesel.
Later in 2021, during an interview, Johnson finally issued some comments over his alleged beef with Diesel. Speaking with Vanity Fair, the XFL co-owner said that he’s moved past his issues with Vin. Even after such claims, the bottom line is that they still don’t see eye-to-eye.
