The current Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion Sami Zayn has been riding the high of his life since his association with The Bloodline. Last year, Zayn, who was a heel at the time, sneaked his way into Roman Reigns’ stable and got the accolade of being an Honorary Uce. The former Intercontinental Champion played an instrumental part in helping the group retain their titles until he betrayed Reigns to protest against the beatdown of Kevin Owens at Royal Rumble 2023.
Since then, Zayn has arguably been one of the biggest babyfaces in WWE. Fans clamoured for him to challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania and also hoped that his push would continue. He got massive pops wherever he went, and reports at the time suggested that the promotion was contemplating putting him in the main event of WrestleMania 39. That did not eventually happen, but he did main event Elimination Chamber against Roman Reigns in Montreal, Canada, his hometown.

However, Zayn, in his own mind, was pretty sure that he would main event at WrestleMania 39. During an appearance on the Mark Andrews: My Love Letter to Wrestling (via Ringside News) podcast, Zayn claimed that he “100% thought” he was going to main event ‘Mania.
“So, there was a time period going from Survivor Series [2022] and building into the [Royal] Rumble, and especially right before the Rumble. and right after the Rumble, I 100% thought it could go to me and Roman at ‘Mania, and it would be the best story. But, that’s just not […] that wasn’t in the cards,” Zayn said.
Unfortunately, Zayn and the fans were left disappointed as the main event of the Show of Shows turned out to be Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes versus Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title. Zayn teamed up with Owens to main event Night One of ‘Mania against The Usos and came out winning the Undisputed World Tag Team Title.
Fans were left bitter when Sami Zayn did not get to main event WrestleMania 39
Riding on the coattails of the massive success of The Bloodline saga, many fans had expected Zayn to challenge Reigns for the world title, if not win it. In the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, loud chants of his name erupted throughout all the arenas WWE visited. However, several dreams were shattered when it was reported that the company would not be changing their planned main event of Cody Rhodes versus Roman Reigns.
If the reports are true about WWE being worried about Sami Zayn chants during Cody Rhodes’ promos then what does that say about the main event of #WrestleMania? The guys over at @GKW_Wrestling are right. Sami needs to be the one to end the story. pic.twitter.com/oAA4yCPyqQ

I don’t know about anyone else but I demand Sami Zayn vs Roman Reigns at WrestleMania also

At the end of the day, Sami’s tryst with The Bloodline seems far from over, as he will once again team up with Kevin Owens to defend their tag team title at Night of Champions. At Backlash, Owens, Zayn, and Matt Riddle lost to the team of The Usos and Solo Sikoa. Roman Reigns is furious at The Usos losing the tag team titles and will surely look to get them back in Saudi Arabia.
