EC3 has been on a journey of self-discovery since April 15, 2020. After getting released from the WWE during the very first round of “budget cuts”, he has completely re-invented himself. These days, EC3 isn’t as concerned with his fictional aunt’s inheritance as he is with helping you “control your narrative”. And now, he’s about to take that concept to TV alongside Adam Scherr (formerly Braun Strowman) and Killer Kross.
EC3 was one of the many superstars WWE dropped the ball with
When EC3 was revealed as the latest NXT signing at Takeover: Philadelphia on January 27, 2018, fans were hyped to see what he would do. The former Derrick Bateman had cut his teeth in various promotions across the world and had even been world champion in WWE’s rival promotion; Impact Wrestling. His debut match hyped things up even further. EC3 was a part of the only multi-person WWE match-up to get Dave Meltzer’s coveted 5 stars.
After feuding with Velveteen Dream over the summer, he was called up to the main roster in his first year back; an admirable feat. Sadly, it was all downhill from there. EC3 was relegated to jobber perjury on Raw and then unceremoniously dumped after 2 years of service. So when he returned to the independent circuit, he took matters into his own hands.
“Control Your Narrative”: EC3’s new brand and mantra
Since returning to the indies, EC3 has put on some of the best cinematic matches in professional wrestling. Through his “Control Your Narrative” brand, he has staged at least 2 independent wrestling events, both of which featured Hitchcockian levels of psychological story-telling. And now, EC3 is taking his brand to TV. As announced through a United Festival Productions press release, EC3 and Adam Scherr are close to securing a network deal. Their “Control Your Narrative: Live” show emanating from Dallas, Texas on March 31st is expected to function as the debut of their wrestling promotion. In a statement released to Twitter, EC3 explained what “CYN: Live” is looking to achieve with its performers;
At CYN there is no corporate hierarchy. There are no investors wanting to use the sport just to profit. There are no contracts, agendas. There is only passion to create.

In a year that has seen Ring of Honour close its doors and New Japan bleed viewership numbers like an open wound, it’s wild to consider that EC3 might just create America’s 3rd-largest wrestling promotion with the right backers; but here we are.
