Recently WWE’s annual numbers came out for the calendar year 2021. They announced that the wrestling promotion had crossed $1 Billion in revenue, a record for them. It is truly an outstanding achievement and a testament to WWE’s product. They have recovered supremely well from the COVID hit economy.
However, critics have still been on the down-low about WWE and its product. Some of them have gone on to call it stale and boring barring Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. During a recent Q&A with PWInsider, Mike Johnson was asked why WWE’s product seems so stale and bloated right now, especially with their thin talent base.

Johnson answered that WWE does not ‘fix’ their problems because Vince McMahon feels there is nothing to fix, “In his mind, he doesn’t think anything is wrong.” Johnson continues, “We are told he pushes and presents what he likes and wants and nothing else makes a dent in that vision. That’s why the shows are presented the way they are and that’s why nothing is going to change anytime soon, if ever.”
Johnson also reiterated the fact that WWE made over $1 Billion in 2021 and the chairman has every right to shrug off his critics.

Vince McMahon reacts to WWE’s record breaking revenue in 2021
A recent look at the comments suggests Vince McMahon is elated on WWE achieving this milestone. On a con call he said, “In 2021, we reached a significant milestone of over $1 billion in revenue, for the first time in the Company’s history. We ended the year with strong performance across each of our business lines that reflected the engagement of a wider audience with distribution on new digital platforms, including Peacock, and the return of fans at our live events.
“We expect the execution of key initiatives in the coming year. The licensing of network content in international markets, monetization of new original series, and the continued shift to a stadium strategy for WWE’s premium live events. This will further expand the reach of our brands and enhance the value of our content.”
Vince McMahon indeed has a billion reasons to turn his ear away from the critics. It is also true that the product feels repetitive, but according to Vince, if it ain’t broke, why fix it? What do you think about WWE’s revenue and their product?
