The 51-year-old added, “Fix it, have him talk sh*t about our family again, that’s what happens.” He continued, “Have it fixed or we will. Have him talk sh*t about our family again I’ll slap the f*cking teeth out of his mouth.”
Considering the fact that WWE is a PG company these days and abusive language is not encouraged, the promo from Dwayne has helped to give the situation a huge sense of gravity. But the question is, why did The Rock decide to slap Cody Rhodes? Let’s find out what the 38-year-old said.
Why did Dwayne Johnson slap Cody Rhodes?
Fans have backed Cody Rhodes to feature in the WrestleMania 40 main event against Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. However, after the Vince McMahon controversy, the unavailability of Brock Lesnar, and the injury to CM Punk changed the plans, WWE decided to put Dwayne Johnson up against Roman.
However, it generated an immense backlash, and “We Want Cody” became a massive deal worldwide. Moreover, some Cody fans also crossed a line as Johnson’s eldest daughter, Ava Raine, received death threats and was forced to delete her X/Twitter account. While Johnson did not address the incident directly, he did refer to some fans as “Cody Crybabies.”
Things came to a boiling point when Cody addressed Roman Reigns’ grandfather and added that ‘The High Chief’ would have been ashamed to see what “The Tribal Chief” had become. At that point, The Rock stepped in and slapped Cody for bringing up their ancestors.
However, it is important to mention that almost everything that happens on stage is most likely scripted. Hence, the likelihood of Johnson having bad blood with Rhodes is minimal. But one can never be sure, and it will be interesting to see how WWE develops the storyline ahead of WrestleMania 40.
