Tonowari, a character from James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water, is sarcastically referred to by fans as Dwayne Johnson. The Rock is well known for his Maori tattoos, and the tattoos on the fearsome warrior, from Avatar 2, resemble those on him quite a bit. After Black Adam’s failure, fans dub it a special appearance by Dwayne. However, it was all a joke. Actor Cliff Curtis actually plays the role.
The film has received a wide range of responses from audiences, and so far, it hasn’t been able to replicate the same performance that the first movie had.
Avatar’s box office record so far
At the global box office, James Cameron’s Avatar 2 is doing great business. The movie has done well enough despite all the comparisons to the previous installment and already ranks among the highest-grossing film in the post-Covid era.
According to the most recent report, it is increasingly dangerously near the $900 million mark and it will soon overtake the Marvel movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Avatar 2 Cast: Which actor really plays Tonowari?
Tonowari, the character in Avatar: The Way of Water, is a fearsome warrior as well as a wise statesman and a leader. The character has the respect of the clan for his morals and his leadership ability to guide them through difficult circumstances.
Even though the fans are sarcastically claiming The Rock plays the part thanks to the similarity of the tattoos, Cliff Curtis actually plays the part.
Actor Cliff Curtis hails from New Zealand. He has appeared in movies like Sunshine, Live Free or Die Hard (both 2007), Once Were Warriors (1994), Three Kings (1999), Training Day (2001), Whale Rider (2002), Collateral Damage (2002), The Dark Horse (2014), and Doctor Sleep (2019). Fans adored Curtis’ role in the second Avatar film and were really respectful of him for his acting chops.
