WrestleMania 40 had an eventful night 1. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made his in-ring return and pinned Cody Rhode during the tag team match between Rhodes, Seth Rollins, and The Bloodline. While the match itself had many ups and downs, the ending left a lot to be desired. However, it also featured an all-timer between Sami Zayn and Gunther. But that was just the beginning as Night 2 was yet to come.
The Night 2 kicked off with the World Heavyweight Championship clash between Drew McIntyre and Rollins. It also had the triple threat match between Logan Paul, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens for the US Championship. But, all eyes were on the WWE Universal title match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. After the disappointing end of the first night, fans were excited to see “The American Nightmare” finally finishing his story. So, how did things unfold? Let’s find out.
WrestleMania 40, Night 2: Results
Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre: Much like Night 1, Night 2 also kicked off with a WWE world title match. This time, it was the defending champ Rollins who faced off against McIntyre. It didn’t take too long for the match to get heated up as “The Scottish Warrior” kicked things off with his finisher Claymore. It really seemed like the match was going to be over right then and there.

However, WWE did not disappoint the fans with a quick finish and the two had an excellent back-and-forth match that McIntyre won. However, his jubilation did not last for too long as Drew had a physical altercation with CM Punk who was on commentary during the match. Taking advantage of that, Damian Priest cashed in his MITB briefcase and secured the belt. Drew’s title reign only lasted for 5 minutes!
Final Testament vs. The Pride: Newly formed stable ‘Final Testament’, which features Karrion Kross, Rezar, and Akam, took on Bobby Lashley, Montez Ford, and Angelo Dawkins’ ‘The Pride’ in a ‘Philadelphia Street Fight.’ Not only that, legendary rapper Snoop Dogg was also present in the commentary booth during the match.
While it did not have any high stakes, the action was fun and it gave fans the chance to hear Snoop Dogg do WWE commentary. On top of that, Bubba Ray Dudley of the ‘Dudley Boyz’ fame was the guest referee for the contest. The match ended when Lashley pinned Kross after a thunderous frog splash from Montez Ford.

LA Knight vs. AJ Styles: LA Knight is 41 years old and this was the first WrestleMania match of his career! Although many fans wanted to see him in a feud with Logan Paul, WWE decided to pair him up with a fellow veteran AJ Styles. While the build to the match was nothing special, it ultimately did not matter as Knight is extremely over with the fans and both are capable of incredible things inside the ring. Knight won the showdown via pinfall in a crowd-pleasing match.
Logan Paul vs. Kevin Owens vs. Randy Orton: The US Championship had lost a lot of its luster before Logan Paul got his hands on it. While he does not make regular appearances on RAW or SmackDown to defend the title, Paul does know how to promote and he always puts up a great show for the fans at the PLEs. This time, he had veteran wrestlers Kevin Owens and Randy Orton to help him and they did a fine job.

On top of that, popular streamer and Cristiano Ronaldo super fan IShowSpeed also made an appearance to help “The Maverick.” However, his time will be best remembered by the vicious kick that Orton landed on him. Although the match was exciting, the result was never in doubt as Paul picked up the win after pinning Owens.
Iyo Sky vs. Bayley: Bayley had the momentum behind her after winning the women’s Royal Rumble 2024. She also has a lot of history with Iyo Sky as both of them were a part of the Damage CTRL. Former teammates going at each other always makes for good TV and this was no different. The commentators also played up their past friendship and how Iyo attacking Bayley’s knee was part of an elaborate strategy.

The match told a great story and delivered awesome action along the way as well. Both Bayley and Sky had the crowd at the palm of their hands with a few well-timed near-falls. It was ultimately the 34-year-old California native who got the win. It was her first WrestleMania victory in 4 years and needless to say, Bayley deserved it.
Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes: This was the match! Cody Rhodes’ determination to finish his story against the Roman Reigns dynasty, the stage was set for one of the greatest matches of all time and perhaps it was. Before the show started, Stephanie McMahon added that this was the beginning of the “Paul Levesque Era.” And, the way this main event went, it seemed like a throwback to the ‘Attitude Era.’

From John Cena to Seth Rollins in Sheild gear to Dwayne Johnson to The Undertaker, every possible star who could make an appearance did. But it was ultimately down to Cody and Roman to end the match and it happened in a very satisfying manner. After all the interferences were done, Cody and Roman stood tall and The Tribal Chief took the pin and seemingly passed the baton to Rhodes.
