His opponent Geoff Neal last stepped in the octagon against any rising star Shavkat Rakhmonov, losing via submission at UFC 285. The American professional mixed martial artist has never shied away from tough challenges. Having won over elite UFC fighters such as Vicente Luque, Mike Perry, Belal Muhammad, and Kevin Holland.

Geoff Neal also wants to dominate Ian Garry in their upcoming fixture after the latter was sporting a T-shirt with Neal’s mugshot. He commented, “You think that sh*t is funny?’ There’s nothing funny about it. That’s tasteless. I didn’t get it.” on the Irish fighter’s behavior. This, he believed, was highly immature on his opponent’s part. And thinks was done as he didn’t respond to the welterweight on social media.

This was both confusing and not too pleasing for Neal, who felt they were on good terms before this incident. The 33-year-old didn’t agree with the tactics that were being used by the Irish to promote the fight and felt highly disrespected. He believes he would be able to finish Garry in the second round. Which would be highly satisfying for him and gain him a lot of clout.
Why did Geoff Neal go to prison?
The mugshot used by Ian Garry in the T-shirt was from Geoff Neal’s reported 2021 Thanksgiving arrest. It was on November 25, 2021, that the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Neal. The charges involved included driving under the influence (DUI) and the unlawful possession of a weapon. And the UFC fighter was placed in the Collin County Jail in McKinney, Texas.

The bond amount for his release was set at $1,000 for each offense. And Neal was released on the same day. According to reports he was charged with a class B misdemeanor DUI and a class A misdemeanor regarding possession of a weapon.
