However, with all the new signings, the London club will also have to make the tough calls to let some players leave the project. Amongst the possible departures, Aaron Ramsdale is considered to be the most likely to be the first one to leave Arsenal in the summer transfer window. Fellow Premier League club, Newcastle United are reportedly, interested in capturing the services of Ramsdale and are working hard to get the transfer over the line.
Aaron Ramsdale has fallen out of favor at Arsenal
Aaron Ramsdale arrived at Arsenal in the summer of 2021 from Sheffield United. Mikel Arteta was adamant in his decision to make Ramsdale his number-one choice as the goalkeeper. Following a rough start, Ramsdale began to display his prowess and repaid the trust shown in him by his coach. He finished his first season at Arsenal with 12 clean sheets in 34 appearances.
Ramsdale even committed his future to the club in 2023 signing a long-term contract running till 2026. However, Mikel Arteta pushed for the signing of Brentford keeper, David Raya in the summer transfer window of 2023. Since Raya arrived at the club, Aaron Ramsdale has lost his status as the number-one shot-stopper.

David Raya has appeared in 31 of Arsenal’s 37 league matches so far. The Spaniard has kept 16 clean sheets in these matches leading him to win the Golden Glove award. There is little argument against Mikel Arteta’s decision to continue with Raya as the first choice. Ramsdale, however, now finds himself fighting a challenging battle and might be looking for options elsewhere.
Newcastle United looking to bolster their squad for next season
Newcastle have enjoyed a slightly disappointing 2023/24 season considering how successful they were in the last campaign. Eddie Howe, however, will have full faith in his and the club’s long-term ambition and project. The club comprises one of the most promising squads in Europe and will look to strengthen it even further in the upcoming transfer window.
