Although he has yet to make it to the NBA, Bronny James‘ confidence in himself is not being well appreciated by the basketball community. As most fans should be aware, Bronny is the eldest son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James. After completing his freshman season with the USC Trojans, Bronny stunned the NBA world by declaring for the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.
NBA 2K is a well-known video game franchise that has dominated the market for several years. Every version of the game comes with updates and new players that have made it to the league. After Bronny revealed his expectations for his rating in the upcoming NBA 2K24, fans were stunned and took to social media in order to make their feelings about his take very clear. That said, a closer look at the situation is required.
Bronny James claims that he should have an 81 OVR in NBA 2K24
While fans always admire confidence in young and upcoming stars, there is a thin line between confidence and delusion. It might appear as if Bronny James has crossed that line by claiming that he should be given an 81 OVR for his potential rookie season in the NBA.
Bronny James says his NBA2K rating should be 81 overall, per @BleacherReport.

To put things into perspective, Jaden Hardy of the Dallas Mavericks was given a 73 OVR in NBA 2K23. Hardy averaged 30.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 8.4 assists in high school and then chose to go to the G League instead of starting his college career. In the G league, Hardy averaged 17.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
Under the assumption that the G league is just as difficult if not more difficult than college basketball, it is clear that Jaden put up much better numbers when compared to Bronny James. After all, Bronny averaged 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in high school. He only averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in college.
These numbers clearly indicate that Hardy is much better than Bronny. Therefore, his claim that he should be rated higher without having played in a single NBA game can be considered delusional. Fans appear to feel the same on this subject.
Fans strongly oppose Bronny and think he should be ranked much lower
Upon hearing that Bronny believed he should be an 81 OVR in NBA 2K24, fans did not hesitate to share their feelings in an attempt to bring him back to their reality. Some claimed that he should be in the 60s or even lower, “My brother in Christ you’ll get a 61 and your gonna LIKE IT.”

In any case, Bronny might just be counting his chickens before they hatch. After all, his future in the NBA has not been guaranteed. Moreover, his confidence might just bring on more pressure and scrutiny under the assumption that he does not immediately find success in the NBA. Only time will tell if Bronny should be ranked in the 80s as a rookie.
