LeBron James had quite a lot to say about Dillon Brooks after the most recent game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets. As most fans should be aware, LeBron is currently in the 21st year of his NBA career and still playing at an elite level in order to keep the Lakers in contention.
King James recently scored 37 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists to lead his team past the Rockets to a narrow 105-104 win. One could argue that LeBron played one of the best and most efficient games of his career against the Rockets.
Some fans will remember that the Rockets made several new additions to their roster such as Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks. However, that was clearly not enough to get the team past LeBron and the Lakers. After the game had ended, King James ended up discussing Brooks. That said, let us take a closer look and find out more.
LeBron James gives Dillon Brooks a backhanded compliment
There is no denying that there is a recent rivalry between LeBron and Brooks. The entire matchup between the Memphis Grizzlies and Lakers last season was filled with trash talk. As we all know the Lakers ended up victorious against the Grizzlies back then and did the same recently against Dillon and his new team.
After having scored a season-high 37 points, LeBron was interviewed and asked about the competitiveness displayed by Brooks. This is what he had to say.
“He’s a great competitor. I like going against him. And he was hooping tonight too, for sure. He was shooting the ball exceptionally well, kept them in the game. I think they were down seven at one point and he hit two big-time 3s to keep them in the game in the fourth. So I mean, it’s competition. Those young guys, they get me going. So need that.”
LeBron actually had some praise for Dillon Brooks after last night’s game:
“He’s a great competitor. I like going against him. And he was hooping tonight too, for sure. He was shooting the ball exceptionally well, kept them in the game. I think they were down seven at one point…

Claiming that young guys such as Dillon Brooks got LeBron going is clearly a backhanded compliment. Now, let us find out how LeBron and Brooks did in their most recent matchup.
LeBron gets the better of Dillon Brooks
There is no getting around the fact that LeBron was the best player in this game between the Lakers and the Rockets. Not only did he score a game-high 37 points, but King James also scored or facilitated almost every single point scored by the Lakers down the stretch.
In comparison, Dillon Brooks finished the night with 24 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists. The numbers clearly speak for themselves and indicate that King James got the better of Dillon the Villian once again. We now look forward to their next matchup as the Lakers and Rockets will play again on December 3, 2023.
