Former Denver Broncos defensive end Harald Hasselbach has passed away at the age of 56. The entire NFL community is mourning the loss of a notable Broncos player. Hasselbach was part of the Denver Broncos team that won two back-to-back Super Bowls.
Harald Hasselbach was suffering from cancer for a long time, as reported by his family. He had been ill for the last six months and passed away in his own home. It is a good thing to know he was with his loved ones and in the comfort of his house when he took his last breath.
He played for the Washington Huskies football team (University of Washington). Hasselbach joined Calgary Stampeders in the CFL (Canadian Football League) before making his way into the NFL (National Football League) for the Denver Broncos.
Harald Hasselbach stayed with the Calgary Stampeders for four seasons, from 1990 to 1993 and also won the Grey Cup with them. It will be interesting to know that Hasselbach is one of only ten players who have won the Grey Cup as well as the Super Bowl.
Hasselbach won the 80th Grey Cup, which was played out between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Calgary Stampeders at the SkyDome in Toronto, as the Stampeders secured a 24-10 victory over the Bombers. Hasselbach also received CFL All-Star honors in 1993.
Harald Hasselbach had a short but highly successful career with the Denver Broncos
After achieving high standards in the CFL, Harald Hasselbach decided it was time to leave his mark at a higher level with the Denver Broncos in the NFL. He was a part of the franchise for seven seasons and played from 1994–2000. During his time with the Broncos, Harald Hasselbach won consecutive Super Bowls (XXXII, XXXIII) and was a starter in Super Bowl XXXIII.
