Thankfully, all but one fighter made weight for the event and even so, no fights were canceled at the eleventh hour. Moreover, the event was also fortunate enough to not have unlucky injuries or so during any of the fights. All in all, UFC 302 served as the perfect opener to the blockbuster summer the UFC has in store for the fans.

Main Card
Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier: Naturally, the UFC 302 main event is what the people had tuned in for, and were pleased to see Dustin Poirier put up a valiant effort. Stuffing a lot of Islam Makhachev’s takedown attempts, both fighters managed to find success on their feet.

Whilst Islam was cut earlier, Poirier bled more. In the end, it was a moment of sheer brilliance that allowed Islam to get his man on the ground and submit him in Round 5.
Sean Strickland vs. Paulo Costa: In the UFC 302 co-main event, Sean Strickland pitched a near shutout to Paulo Costa at times. Whilst Sean came forward with his signature stance and pressure, the Brazilian spent most of the fight on the back foot.

Uneventful and boring for the most part, a good flurry and knockdown from Strickland eventually earned him the deserved victory, which for some reason ended up being a split decision.
Kevin Holland vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk: A fighter’s fight to say the least, Kevin Holland made the jump up to 185 for this one. Whilst the fight started with a wild scrap on the feet, a wild overhand sent Holland crashing to the floor early on.

While Oleksiejczuk piled on to try and finish the job, Kevin got hold of his arm and soon managed to get his man squirming and struggling before effectively breaking it for a Round 1 submission.
Niko Price vs. Alex Morono: Effectively the ‘fun scrap’ fight on the card, both fighters came out the gates rather clunky. Whilst Price kept on swinging, the clearly out-of-shape Morono started fading in Round 2.

Owing to Alex’s struggles with cardio, Price just kept piling on and giving his man hell. By the end, there was only one fighter in this one and he rightfully breezed to a unanimous decision victory at UFC 302.
Randy Brown vs. Elizeu Zaleski: An exciting bout to start the UFC 302 main card, the fight was touch and go right from the rip. Whilst Brown found more success on the feet, Zaleski managed to get his man on the ground and even threatened a Rear naked choke in Round 2.

In the end, it was Randy’s surgical striking that prevailed and saw him get the better of Zaleski. Having overcome the Brazilian’s grounded threats, Brown took the unanimous decision win.
