In a disheartening update for fight fans, reports on the internet suggest that Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler might be off from the UFC 303 PPV, which is set to take place later this month. The rumors started floating around after an abrupt postponement of the pre-fight press conference scheduled in Dublin a day after the UFC 302 PPV on 3 June. Amidst all this, the man who recently proclaimed himself the company man and the best gatekeeper we have seen has already thrown his name into the mix to save the card.
It’s safe to say that nothing compares to a Conor McGregor card, but the fact that the reports have earned the attention of even UFC fighters does add some authenticity to these reports.
Reacting to a post on social media platform X, where the user suggests multiple reasons why UFC 303 might be off after all, Kevin Holland retweeted it with the caption, “looks like I’ll be on UFC 303.“
Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler is set to go down later this month on June 30 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight marks the return of the former two-division champion inside the Octagon for the first time since UFC 264 more than three years ago.
Conor McGregor breaks silence on UFC 303 press-conference postponement
While Conor McGregor has not said anything about the rumors sending shockwaves in the MMA community, the Notorious did clarify the reason behind the decision to postpone the pre-fight press conference in Dublin.
Without really elaborating on the reasons, Mcgregor assured fans that UFC 303 is a go and he can’t wait to put on at the “greatest all-time show in the Octagon” on June 30.
However, the story coming out is entirely different. ESPN has already removed UFC 303 advertisement from their website. Meanwhile, UFC’s official YouTube page has also taken down the Free Fight segment ahead of UFC 303 which the promotion usually pushes out before an event. Moreover, UFC 303 page on ESPN Plus returns “Page Not Found,” which wasn’t the case less than 24 hours ago.
That’s not all; silence from Dana White, Conor McGregor, and even Michael Chandler on this development has led many fans to believe that they could hear the news of UFC 303 cancellation very soon. Surprisingly, this will be the first time that a Conor McGregor card might get canceled, and if the reports are true, this is quite disappointing from the biggest MMA promotion in the world, which has decided to remain silent amid all these rumors and reports.
