The entire NFL world is focusing on one player only and he is Damar Hamlin. He had a cardiac arrest after doing a rough tackle on Tee Higgins. The incident took place during the game between Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin got immediate medical attention in the field, which may just have saved his life. But, all Damar was worried about, was the game itself!
Naturally, after Hamlin collapsed on the field, everybody was worried for him. From players to staff to the broadcasting team, everybody offered prayers. The officials even canceled the rest of the game and scheduled it for a later date. But, according to a report from USA Today, the first thing that the 24-year-old had to ask, was the result of the game.
Hamlin still has a breathing tube attached to him. Hence, he can not yet communicate with his voice. However, he is conscious enough to write. The first question that came to his mind, was how the game ended after he passed out. It prompted Dr. Timothy Pritts to reportedly say, “the answer is yes, Damar, you won the game of life.”
The report has also provided some much-needed clarity about what went on when Damar Hamlin came back to his senses. Apparently, the Bills’ safety player was unconscious and sedated for 2 days. But, his family members and some of his teammates apparently stuck by his side while he was fighting for his life.
What is the latest medical update on Damar Hamlin?
Damar Hamlin went through a very tough few days. When he initially arrived at the University of Cincinnati Medical center, Damar was in a very critical condition. Doctors opined that Hamlin’s collision with Tee Higgins caused blunt force trauma on his chest. It could have been a big reason why Damar went into cardiac arrest.
The use of CPR and a defibrillator indicates that Damar’s heart stopped working at one point in time. So the situation seemed really dire at the time. Perhaps, the prayers of fans all around the world were answered as Damar started to recover slowly but surely. After being unconscious for two days, Damar is reportedly happy to be around his family members.

The latest health update from Buffalo Bills also shows some growth in Hamlin’s recovery. The report mentioned positive news about his lungs. Although he is still on a breathing tube, Hamlin’s lungs are gradually gaining back their strength. They also mentioned that Damar did not have any signs of neurological damage. However, the safety player is still in a critical state.
